The problem faced by advertisers before InMobi
In the past, traditional advertising methods such as pamphlets, hoardings, newspaper and magazine ads, radio spots, sponsorships, and free giveaways were used to promote products or services. However, businesses often struggled to keep track of their advertising spend and determine which methods were most effective. For instance, (if a company like ABC invested 100,000 rupees in pamphlets and hoardings, they had no reliable means of assessing which approach was yielding the best results.)
Solution of the problem by InMobi for advertisers
InMobi developed a digital platform that allows advertisers to not only promote their products or services, but also to monitor their advertising expenditure and tailor their campaigns to specific times and locations based on the data provided. This enables them to advertise more efficiently and effectively. For instance, (if ABC company spent 100,000 rupees on advertising through InMobi, they would have access to information on where their ads were displayed, who viewed them, and the resulting outcomes.)
InMobi history and founders
Inmobi earlier known as mKhoj was founded in 2007 as an SMS-based search and monetization. (For example, if A sent an SMS message containing the keyword “shoes” to the number 6767676, mKhoj would send deals related to shoes to A’s number via SMS.)
mKhoj was founded in Mumbai in 2007 by four individuals: Naveen Tiwari, Mohit Saxena, Amit Gupta, and Abhay Singhal. At the time, the company operated out of two rented apartments.
Initially, InMobi limited its operations to Asia specific due to limited funding. However, after rebranding from mKhoj, the company began expanding. In 2009. InMobi extended its services to Europe, and by the end of the following year, they had also expanded into the USA. In the USA, their competitor was AdMob, which had been acquired by Google.
